This Tuesday, me, my husband, and my sister went to the BBC Proms. Our friend, a professional childminder in our ward, watched Anson at our house. We went by train to London. The Royal Albert Hall was super cool. The program consisted of 2 parts: A performance by David Fray of Mozart's piano concerto no. 25 in C major, K503; and a performance by the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 in C minor. Although the piano performance was nice, I felt that two factors made it a little disappointing. First, David Fray was a phenomenal pianist but unfortunately mediocre performer (didn't engage the audience at all and had weird nervous habits). Second, in my humble opinion Mozart's piano concerto no. 25 was not his best composition, to say the least. Despite these things, the performance was lovely. But the second part of the performance was worth the price of admission. The Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra performed this massive piece so beautifully. They were very well synchronized, their tone and articulation was phenomenal, the performance was riveting, and the conductor seemed absolutely to command the orchestra. I kept expecting the Orchestra to tire out after an 80 minute intense symphony, but they kept the energy up the whole time. Beautiful. Proms was awesome, I highly recommend it!
