I have a lot of addictions of late. Grocery shopping (particularly produce), craft blogs, sewing, painting...and lately, bookbinding.
Bookbinding is a highly addictive past-time. Ask my mother. There was an abstract drawing that I did during the summer in England that kept kicking around my art desk. Finally I decided it was time for it to get a life--as my new journal that is. So two nights ago I 1) cut it in half and mounted it on two, square masonite boards, 2) water-colored it, 3) sealed it with acrylic medium, 4) backed it with Ingres camel-colored paper, 5) inked the drawing with pen, 6) cut a text block [the paper inside], 7) took some embroidery floss and ran it through a wax candle [in the absence of waxed linen thread], 8) sewed it all together, 9) went to bed at 3 a.m. The next night I took the scraps from the text block and made Paul a notebook. And went to bed at 2 a.m. Oh dear.
