This morning I woke up at 7:30 with a massive migraine, so I took and Excedrin and went back to sleep for another couple hours. At 11 the kids and I went to Graeter's ice-cream to meet up with some friends. One of our friends had moved to Nicaragua and she was visiting town for a week. It was so nice to see her. In talking to her, I realized that her experience will be similar to mine in a few months. I know because I have lived out of the country twice and what she was experessing resonated with my own feelings about living abroad. In retrospect I am always nostalgic, but honestly while in the moment of living outside the US I always experience emotions of discomfort, enjoyment, exhilaration, frustration, and anxiety...and a lot of other complicated emotions. It was good to see her.
Because I woke up so late, we ate a couple granola bars on the way to the ice-cream parlor. Then we had ice-cream (chocolate, almond, coconut, chocolate chip YUM). After all the kids played in the Graeter's play place, I took the kids to Wendy's and we had a chicken sandwich and chicken nuggets (Wendy's is my junk food guilty pleasure--we only get to go once a month or so when I finally cave). Then we went to JoAnn's Fabric to return something, then we came home and ate crackers with jam and bre cheese. Like I said, weird but yummy food day.
